Description<br />
Tilmicosin is a semi-synthesized macrolide antibiotic used for livestock and poultry. It has an in vitro<br />
antibacterial spectrum that is predominately Gram-positive with activity against certain Gram-negative<br />
micro-organisms. Activity against several Mycoplasma species has also been seen.<br />
Indications<br />
Tilmicosin Oral Solution is indicated for the control and treatment of respiratory infections associated with<br />
micro-organisms susceptible to tilmicosin, such as: Mycoplasma spp., Pasteurella multocida, Mannheimia<br />
haemolytica, Actinomyces pyogenes and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae in calves, pigs, sheep and goats.<br />
Tilmicosin Oral Solution can be used for the treatment of infections in poultry and turkeys caused by Mycoplasma<br />
gallisepticum (CRD), Mycoplasma synoviae (arthritis/synovitis), Mycoplasma meleagridis (in turkeys) and of<br />
Clostridium perfringens (necrotic enteritis). Also indicated for treatment of diseases like Haemorrhagic<br />
Septicaemia and CCPP (Chronic Caprine Pleuro-Pnemoniae) in sheep and goats.<br />
Contra-indications<br />
Do not administer in case of hypersensitivity or resistance to tilmicosin.<br />
Do not administer together with other macrolides or lincosamides.<br />
Do not administer to animals with an active microbial digestion in rumen or large intestines, especially not to<br />
horses.<br />
Do not administer during pregnancy and lactation: use only after a risk/benefit assessment by a veterinarian.<br />
Overdose may cause heart and kidney toxicity.<br />
Do not administer to poultry producing eggs for human consumption or to animals intended for breeding<br />
purposes.<br />
Side-effects<br />
Possible cardiac toxicity (tachycardia and decreased contractility). Occasionally, a transient reduction in<br />
water or (artificial) milk intake has been observed upon treatment with tilmicosin.<br />
Dosage and administration<br />
For oral administration via drinking water or milk (calves).<br />
Calves : 1 ml per 25 kg bodyweight, twice daily, dissolved in (artificial) milk, during 3 - 5 days.<br />
Sheep, goats : 1 ml per 12.5 - 25 kg bodyweight during 3 - 5 days.<br />
Poultry, turkeys : 300 ml per 1,000 litres of drinking water during 3 - 5 days.<br />
Pigs : 800 - 1,600 ml per 1,000 litres of drinking water during 5 - 7 days.<br />
If needed extend treatment to 10 - 21 days.<br />
Note: Medicated drinking water or (artificial) milk should be prepared fresh every 24 hours. To ensure a<br />
correct dosage, the concentration of the product should be adjusted to the actual fluid intake.<br />
Withdrawal period<br />
Meat: Calves, sheep, goats : 14 days<br />
Poultry, turkeys : 12 days<br />
Pigs : 14 days<br />
Milk : 4 days<br />
Storage<br />
Store in a dry, dark place between 15°C and 25°C.<br />
Keep in closed packing.<br />
Keep medicine away from children.<br />
Packing<br />
1 litre PE-Pharma bottle (12 bottles per box).<br />
